It's moments like these that makes me super-proud to be a geek dad.
It's great to reap this era's post-PC benefits as much as I can while my daughters are still tiny. Later when they grow up and start attracting hormone-laden boyfriends, wireless multimedia communications may be the bane of my existence. I think the few most recent iPad ads got it spot on. Who cares if my device doesn't do "true multitasking", whatever that means. Who cares if it won't let me copy files onto an SD card onboard. Who would enjoy jagged video-calling via 3G if the area suffers wayward reception. Once my phone let me see live my wife and first daughter, while cuddling with my second, using just ONE tap to the touchscreen, every other nerdy specs and 'features' just simply cease to exist*, along with whatever cost-benefit doubts I had during pre-purchase. Right then and there, that very moment justifies the hundreds-of-dollars investment like no other concrete mathematical return can match. So, gone are the days where numerical features presented me with real value. I may no longer claim to be the tech geek I used to pride on. But I'd take tech that lets me enjoy this beautiful life I'm blessed with over anything else. *) A final note, on 'nerdy features': I would still wish for my non-jailbroken iPhone to do screen recordings out of the box. The last 5 minutes could've been ad-worthy (and eternally memorable).Thank God for our 2nd daughter, Alexia Tabitha JANELLE Kairupan.
